Everything you need to know about renting our 4x4 vehicles, joining a guided tour and traveling overland through Costa Rica.
Every rental includes the modified 4x4 vehicle (rooftop tent, kitchen module, table, chairs, awning), cooler, water tank, basic cookware, unlimited mileage, insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance. We also provide route recommendations and curated camping spots.
We offer Toyota Tacoma Overland, Toyota 4Runner Adventure, Toyota FJ Cruiser Expedition and Toyota 4Runner Premium Overland. All are modern, well-maintained 4x4s fully equipped for camping.
All of our overland vehicles are automatic transmission to make driving in Costa Rica's roads easier and more comfortable.
Most of our vehicles seat 4-5 passengers and sleep 2-3 people in the rooftop tent. The Toyota 4Runner Premium Overland can sleep up to 3 adults. For larger groups we recommend renting more than one vehicle.
Yes, children are welcome. We can provide child safety seats upon request — please mention the child's age when booking so we prepare the right one. There's no extra charge for the seats.
Pets are welcome on a case-by-case basis. Please let us know in advance — small to medium pets are generally allowed with a refundable cleaning deposit. The vehicle must be returned clean and free of pet hair.
On a guided tour, a local expert leads the convoy in a separate vehicle: planning, navigation, hotels and curated stops are taken care of. On a self-guided trip you rent the vehicle and follow a recommended route at your own pace — we provide GPS waypoints, camping suggestions and 24/7 support if you need help.
Routes vary from easy (paved scenic roads suitable for all drivers) to challenging (river fords, steep climbs, remote tracks). We classify every route as Easy, Moderate or Challenging and recommend vehicles accordingly. If you have no off-road experience, we suggest starting with an Easy or Moderate route or booking a guided tour.
Personal clothing, light hiking shoes, swimwear, sunscreen, insect repellent, your own sleeping bag or sheets, towels, toiletries, and a valid driver's license (international permit recommended for some nationalities). We provide everything for camping and cooking.
Send us an inquiry via the booking form, WhatsApp or email. We confirm availability and price within 24 hours, then you pay a 50% deposit to lock the dates. The remaining 50% is paid at pickup along with a refundable security deposit on credit card.
The security deposit is held on a valid credit card at pickup and depends on the vehicle (typically USD 1,500–2,500). It is fully released after the vehicle is returned in good condition with no damages or violations.
