All our vehicles come with comprehensive insurance. Here's exactly what's covered, what isn't, and how the security deposit works.
What insurance covers
- Damage to the rental vehicle (collision, theft, fire)
- Third-party liability
- 24/7 roadside assistance anywhere in Costa Rica
- Towing service
- Replacement vehicle when possible
What insurance does NOT cover
- Damage from negligent off-road driving outside recommended routes
- Damage from driving on a beach during high tide
- Lost or damaged camping accessories due to misuse
- Personal belongings inside the vehicle
- Traffic violations and fines
Security deposit
A refundable deposit of USD 1,500–2,500 (depending on the vehicle) is held on a credit card at pickup. It covers your insurance deductible and any unreported damages or fines. Released within 5–10 business days after the vehicle is returned in good condition.
